In a recent interview, BMW’s head of development, Albert Biermann admitted that there will be a time when the technology behind diesel engines will make it suitable to power the entire fleet of M cars. “With cars like the X5 and X6 M, the torque characteristics of diesel engines would make them the ideal choice, were it not for their unsporting character,” Biermann said.
At the moment BMW’s M division is already working hard to reduce the carbon emissions of its high powered cars and to develop performance application of BMW’s new hybrid technology. Most of us are realizing that car manufacturers are getting pleasured more and more to come out with greener and cleaner cars that have lower CO2 emission. Will it be possible that in a few years we will have BMW M5D or perhaps a Z4MD, who knows only time shall tell.
