It seems that it was bound to happen. Back in 2004, Lamborghini gifted the Italian Police Force with 2 Lamborghini Gallardo to patrol the high speed motor ways which contributes to over 5,000 road deaths/year.
The accident happened near the north Italian town of Cremona, the car was put on display at a student jobs fair. It swerved as it was avoiding a near collision with another car, this obviously caused the car to plough into 2 stationary cars. This left the Gallardo under a car and ultimately damage beyond repair.
Guardian reports, “Both cars include transmitters to send images back to HQ, a defibrillator for accidents and a fridge for transporting donor organs. The two officers were returning from a convention in Cremona, where they had been addressed a student audience on road safety.”
2 police officers were in the car and one suffered a broken rib and the other suffered some minor bruises.
