Equipped with 252 horses, the video below shows the awesome owner crashing his Lotus while exiting a corner. Minor injuries for the driver and passenger, but that car has left earth and gone to a better paradise.

Well, apparently not for some people. But this particular Veyron owner might have other thoughts about it though. If your memory doesn’t serve you well (or if you were too busy playing Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to remember), late last year a driver of the USD $1.6 million hypercar drove it into a lake. Here’s what happened according to local news reports:

“The man, who refused to give his name, was looking at real estate in Galveston. About 3 p.m. a low-flying pelican distracted him as he traveled north on Interstate 45 just south of the hurricane levee near Omega Bay. The man jerked the wheel, dropped his cell phone, and the car’s front tire left the frontage road and entered a muddy patch, which foiled his attempt to maneuver away from the lagoon.”

Seriously dude? I’ve had birds coming towards me but I’ve never thought “Oh look, an aviary creature. I’ll take my car for a bath now as fast as soon as possible”. No, apparently this is all a publicity stunt. Said driver of the Veyron is one Andy House of Performance Auto Sales. The company, ironically, specialises in damaged exotic cars. And he also owns the crashed Ferrari Enzo that Eddie Griffin decided to drive into a wall. Think about it, what are the odds of this crash getting caught on video at the precise moment it happens? Somehow, my “publicity stunt” alarm is going off. Oh, did I mention he also owns a celebrity bought crashed Enzo?

Anyway, we’ll let the video speaks for itself. There’s as much of a pelican in it as the movie The Pelican Brief. Too bad Mr House couldn’t handle birds and water as well as the pilot of the United Airways flight.

Yup, your eyes are not deceiving you. Apparently while he was away amassing his wealth (most probably, seeing as how he can afford the top-of-the-line 5 series), a 20-year-old working with the dealership took the car out for a spin, lost control and absolutely totaled the car. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, he was sold a fairytale as to how it happened. “Hit a patch of sand and hit into a curb at 20mph”. I might be young, but even I know that hitting a curb at 20mph is not enough to cause all of that. And this coming from personally having been in an accident involving me driving a 5 series.

The owner later got a second opinion on the car, and the damage was assessed at USD$14,000 in parts and a further USD$16,000 in labour. The dealership wanted to give him a USD$2,500 only offer to repair and repaint. I’m sorry folks, he’s got an M5. I’m pretty sure he’s educated enough to know that that’s nowhere near enough. No word yet on what’s gonna actually happen, but you can be sure there’ll be lawsuits on the horizon.

What someone might’ve neglected to mention to him, however, is that more power is actually more difficult to control. Although he managed to scrape away enough salt on the flats to secure himself a class-B license (going at 179mph), his Prancing Horse was too much for him to handle as he spun out of control at 188mph while trying to bag himself a class-A license.

Officials at the Speed Week say it’s due to the freshman driver’s unfamiliarity with the conditions on the salt flats as well as the car. But not all is lost, however. The car (which can now fetch up to prices of US $1 million) can be fixed and will survive to run again.

Let’s just hope Mr Losee doesn’t decide to get his hands on the already quad-turboed Bugatti Veyron next.

There are only 350 units made, but with unit No. 000 crashed, it seems like Lamborghini made 351. So what’s with No. 000?

It might be the first ever unit ever built for testing/company use/reviews. That said it has been totaled. What a waste, I wonder who did that; Mr. Lamborghini should give him (perhaps her) a tight slap across his mental lobe.

Amongst the 1,000 units, report shows that there are quite a few that have been destroyed. Very electrifying, feel the shock?

It is sad to see these beauties destroyed, but the heartless me says, “serves you right Mr. I don’t know how to drive a CAR”.
