Boys love their toys. And you can bet that whenever there’s a bunch of boys with their racing cars at the starting line of a race, there’ll be plenty of girls there to draw their attention away from the sweltering heat as well as pre-race jitters. Definitely works for me.

Yet the age old comparison between Japanese and continental cars sometimes breach the boundaries of strictly just automobiles, and warm-blooded males are asked who actually garners more attention: Japanese grid girls or their continental counterparts?

I don’t know about you, but I’m sure as anything going to call a definite win for the Japs. There’s just something about them that not even the most rosy cheeked American girl would definitely lose her stars and stripes to. See what I mean?

Renault Trying To “Wing It” In Belgium

According to news reports (and their own team boss himself), Formula One team Renault is set to debut a revised version of the “F Duct” system at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit during the upcoming Belgian Grand Prix on the 29th of August.

Team Boss Eric Boullier dropped clues that his racing cars would be equipped with F Duct system which allows for the driver to alter the airflow so as to stall the wing of the car and minimise drag, giving it an effective edge on the straights. The pictures below demonstrate the usage of the F Duct system by the McLaren team on their current MP4-25 racing car.

However, Monsieur Boullier might find that this added advantage to his team could be shortlived. It has already been announced by FOTA that for the upcoming 2011 Formula One season, the F Duct system (currently employed on the McLaren racing cars and other teams) would be banned. This would be due to the violation of the rule which disallows flexibility of the rear wing.

A very coordinated dance move on the podium by the world champions, not too sure if it was planed, but heh… Massa doesn’t look a bit impressed at all. The occasion? The 2006 German Grand Prix.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Fastest F1 Safety Car

The 2010 Formula 1 season will be adopting a new safety car, the SLS AMG. It seems that the previous pack leader is a tad too slow for the pack, indeed, and the answer to this is a supercharged V-8 supercar.

The gullwing will be piloted Bernd Maylander. He has been a Formula 1 safety car driver ever since the year 2000. Maylander was previously a DTM race car driver.

A special number plate has been designed for the safety car and it includes 700 LED’s which will provide clarity for all sort of conditions.

It weighs less than the average Formula 1 car, heck, it is greener than the greenest hybrid, and oh, it is cheap to rebuild in case of any sudden crashes. I present to you, the Puma Formula 1 car (created by The Wilson Brothers).

Sad to say, this is not entering the 2010 Formula 1 Championship. But I do wonder, if Brawn were to manage this team, they might just win 10 championships in a row.

Pictures: Red Bull Reveals 2010 Contender, RB6

Equipped with double diffuser a new “shark fin” designed engine cover and a Renault V8, the Red Bull RB6 is ready for it’s 2010 championship attack. Piloted by Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber, this piece of Adrian Newey design is said to be the most beautiful car thus far.

The team will be conducting a 4-day test this week.
